Video & Stats Talk Series 10 – Idil Türk

Here is the 10th player we introduce to you as a part of the “Video & Stats Talk” series.

Idil Türk, A recent graduate of UTRGV, she began her Pro career with one of the top teams of the Turkish Women’s BSL teams Hatay Büyükşehir Belediyesi this past season.

We put together a number of questions sent forward by our owner Mr. Duran to Ms. Idil Türk to go over (her responses in English have been translated by us, her original answers are below in Turkish):

– During the offseason as you prepare towards getting back to play; how much do you personally watch or try to add from other players through video and statistics?

I watch old games (of my own) as well as skilled players highlights that play my position on youtube. In terms of statistics, I try to watch out for FG%, I also try to figure out how many balls they use per game (usage) as well as how consistent players are.

– When preparing to play an opponent internationally what are three key aspects you look at when you get your assignments?

Dominant hand, positioning and their “go to move” are the key aspects I watch out for through video.

– Do you use video and stats that are different from what the assistant coaches hand you to give you an edge?

I try and watch one or two full game videos and try to recognize how consistent opponents are and what moves they utilize.

– What do you prioritize when watching game film of yourself?

I look out how I did on offense more than other things. I try to gauge how defense respond to my moves and how they react overall.

– Throughout the season, what 3 key elements of statistics intrigue you to look into your opponent more (in terms of ranking)?

FG%, Turnovers and Assists

– Do you prefer broken down game film (possession by possession) or unedited film (full game) and why?

I prefer full game film.
