The new Euroleague season in perspective (2019 – 2020)
This is one of the pieces we feel that we have done major work on. As a major analysis provider across Europe to teams, time and time again we work with top level clubs and the Euroleague to us is the pinnacle.
With the above in mind, we have analyzed the current team rosters, the salary cases the power rankings which is all fine and good. But for the first time ever we wanted to share a very unique bit of insight that likely won’t be found anywhere else.
Scoring versus Pressure Index
This past summer during several meetings internally, as well as while attending conferences and meeting with potential clients we came to the conclusive case that we needed to figure out a more solid way to present findings.
Our owner and lead analyst, Ermay Duran who is known for lineup analysis throughout the work that he has completed stated that we need to present a new index and methodology. We have hence decided to share our most impactful finding. Scoring vs. Pressure as an Index is in part a rare way to look and add in analytics and the good old eye test. The combination of both and added in dynamics of offensive, defensive and intangible results that are hard to track through just data were all factored in. While we mathematically have worked up the solution the logic behind it reveals that potentially an optimal lineup of 5 players on the court can cover enough aspects to become a sound group of players that output solid possessions that allow them to be stronger than their opponents (so far this is practical possession-based analysis). The kicker is that while an optimal lineup can do work on both ends of the court the idea is that they should be able to score more versus tougher defensive teams. Therefore taking in elements of predominantly defensive values including +/-, DRating, Usage Ratings, Defensive four factors we created a scale ranging from a minimal 150 points to a maximum 300 points.
Based on the above we now are happy to share our findings for All Euroleague teams that we have watched in the pre-season.
*Please bare in mind that basketball analytics is not an exact science and merely the fact that our SvP is an index indicator of performance it can not pinpoint major differences!
*None of the video material that is used in regards to the teams are meant to be copyrighted by us, it is all practically shared for performance purposes and to show the public basketball audience that our index has sound grounds it has been built on.
Dear All, the financials, that our consultants have worked on are so much more than financials. They are values for the season ahead, all the predictive expectations that performance versus value amount brings out.
For the general public that has an overall view based on what teams state and follow mass media concerning respective Euroleague teams; financials that you are fixated on should not be solely based flat notions of just budgets announced.
Take it to heart when we state that the table above has been developed with care and respect to all athletes and teams in the Euroleague and like the amazing people and ownership of OVERBASKET has stated similarly this is an INDICATOR of VALUE concerning PERFORMANCE paralleled to FINANCIAL INSIGHT…
When our consultants did the workup they took verifications of financial budgeting, comparisons and so much more into account that while they were a bit surprised at the similar findings it has been brought to their attention that it is possible that the coincidence that OVERBASKET and our findings have cross-matched.
For all those of you that feel that have been wronged, a majority are utterly disregarding the fact that our intention is not the focus on the financials but so much more on our very own SvP Index and the Power rankings that have also been published.
We do not accept judgment from mainstream media, persons or individual sources that have taken our study to another place, all your comments are reflections of how you feel and see the game for what it is.
While it has saddened our ownership that every single NAY sayer thinks that our study is bogus, there are facts, figures and so much more than the regular Euroleague fan takes into account that is worked on.
We hence acknowledge that a majority of people on the web focus on things they grasp yet again our sole focus is on the main performance values we have published within this piece that barely any others have considered discussing.
We hope to have informed all those interested accordingly.
