Dear All, as soon as I heard my marketing guys picked up the task of doing a profile on Worthy de Jong, I had to step in and do this one for my friend. The 31-year-old, shooting guard has been a close and personal contact of mine for some time and the first time I saw him compete was during the summer he had turned pro and signed his first deal with ZZ Leiden (2009 – 2010).
I saw this energetic guy working on his shot out at Optisports Centrum in Zuid Oost and than began playing pickup ball with a few other Pros coming in. I had that gut feeling I do when I see something special and the rest, as they say, is history!
Worthy De Jong
Stands at 1,95 and plays Shooting Guard for ZZ Leiden. Spent the 2016 – 2017 season in France playing in Boulogne where he averaged about 10 points and 2 assist a game across playing just above +21 minutes a game.
In the process of doing this profile our guys dug into 128 games, Worthy played in with the NMT (WC qualifiers), FIBA Europe Cup, and then some (friendly games).
It never astonishes me to see that a player such as Worthy has found ways to develop himself.
Across 128 games, he has racked up the following stats-line:
Going in deeper into his game:
The guys found 103 possessions where Worthy played out tremendous offensive PNR situations:
They also found 77 possessions where he played out Defensive PNR options (check him out!):
Offensively speaking Worthy is a force to be reckoned with all the time. He can single-handedly place a team on his back and ride them to success but he also has the craft and the ability to make the remaining 4 players he plays with better all the time.
