On a trip at the beginning of the year, I caught an ABA game where I came across a young player on the U19 team of Crvena zvezda mts. Nemanja Popovic, a 2,02m SG/SF type player with a good wing-span that has defensive and offensive skills reminded me of a young Toni Kukoc/Danilovic mixture.
He has averaged over 22 minutes in the U19 ABA league and is worth looking into especially for teams that are looking at well established young talent.
To me with Nemanja there are certain points of improvement that he can work on:
- foot speed
- catch and shoot
- off ball movement
- face up defense
Areas that he definitely is solid in:
- High basketball IQ
- Finishing close under the rim
- creating plays for himself
- off hand ball handling
- Defensive pressure
I can definitely see this young player making a big splash with a solid Euroleague team, if not with a EuroCup team next season.
Keep your eyes peeled for this player folks, he will be a player to watch out for.
